Family Night

Family Home Evening has become a highlight of our week. The kids look forward to doing their part all week long. Everyone gets a chance to do everything from playing the piano to teaching the lesson. Last night was full of fun and laughter.

To start off Nick played the opening song. He picked "Popcorn Popping." It's hard not to smile throughout the song. Nick just plays random keys but is so happy to be just like everyone else. For our scripture, we like to do the Article of Faith for the month. This month was number six. It was Abbie's turn to do the scripture. Since she's been practicing her reading, we had her read it out of the scriptures. She did awesome! Most of it she had memorized from Primary, but the rest she read. Next was the lesson. This is where the laughter all started. Rob told the story about David & Goliath. Then Rob pretended to be Goliath and let the kids take turns being David. They thought it was so funny when he fell over.

Here they are showing how strong they are.

They each got a turn to beat Goliath.

After the lesson, was our activity. Nick wanted to play duck, duck, goose. This is a little difficult to play in our living room, but we did it. The kids are good at picking someone different every time, and they love being chased. Nick used to run around us twice before he would sit down.

Earlier that day while I was making cookies for our treat, I let the kids taste the cookie dough. All of a sudden, Nick says, "It's AMAZING Mom!" I wasn't expecting a compliment like that. It certainly made my day.

Who know what adventures we'll have next week!

How fun! It's always a successful lesson when kids are laughing and learning. And compliments like Nick's are so cute. It makes the mess of cookie baking worthwhile.
